The Rockstars of Acorn Acres Farm

If you've visited Acorn Acres Farm you likely have met Megan and Joanna. We are so grateful to have an extraordinary support team! These rockstars do it all — from guiding customers to try the freshest seasonal produce, dairy and grass-fed meats, to lending a hand in the gardens with harvesting, and beyond. We sure couldn’t do it without them! 

Come by the store this week to get supplies and try one of their favorite recipes. We can't get enough of Joanna's 3-ingredient “Superfood Hash.” 1 package of our flavor-packed pastured sausage, 1 sweet potato peeled & diced, and a big bowl of chopped greens (swiss chard, spinach, etc). Nourishing, satisfying and packed with flavor!

Produce

This week’s harvest includes a variety of fresh herbs, leafy greens, heirloom tomatoes, fresh shiitake mushrooms, and more! 

  • Apples—fresh, local, delicious, and like the rest of what we do, no chemicals!

  • Beets

  • Blueberries (frozen)

  • Cabbage (green)

  • Carrots — Slightly smaller this week and looking delicious for a light sauté!!

  • Eggplant

  • Elderberries (frozen)

  • French petite green & purple beans, a perfect side dish!

  • Green beans (and we are hoping for wax beans as well)!

  • Garlic

  • Herbs — limited supply of basil, celery, chives, lemongrass, lavender leaves, mint, oregano, parsley, sage, thyme, and many dried options; pre-order to confirm varieties & availability!

  • Kale

  • Leeks

  • Lettuce (crisp, delicious heads, including green romaine!)

  • Mixed lettuce!

  • Mushrooms (fresh shiitake)!

  • Mustard Greens

  • Onions

  • Pepper Sweet & Hot! Anaheim Chili, Cayenne, Green, Habanero, Jalapeño, Red & Yellow, Shishito, and more!! Doing some canning, making salsa, or wanting to dry some for the winter? Let us know and we'll see if we can offer a bulk rate! This is the season to start thinking ahead for peppers and other fall harvests!

And more. Like any local market, we never know what else we might end up with until we harvest. So, it helps to come to the farm store and explore or request further details when pre-ordering!


Dairy & Eggs

This week’s options include:

  • A2 protein/grass-fed cow's milk, butter, buttermilk, cheese (cottage, and a variety of others), French dip, Kefir (plain), yogurt (plain), & whipping cream AND Goat Cheese this week!

  • Chicken & Duck eggs

Meat Availability

This week’s options (while supplies last) include:

  • Beef Prime Steaks: Sold Out! We're working on the next availability which is being targeted  for the 19th of October (we hope)!

  • Beef Savory Steaks: Cubed, Round (Eye, Top, and Bottom), PLUS Flat Iron and more!

  • Beef Roasts: Rump (or Rolled Rump), Sirloin Tip and Top & Bottom Round Roasts. As previously noted, we hope to have our Chuck and Chuck Arm Roasts back by the 19th of October!

  • Beef Grill Options: Ground (including ground beef, chuck, and sirloin), Patties (3 & 4/pkg), Stew Meat, Soup Bones, Shank Bones, Tallow and more! We're also carrying The Brooklyn Hot Dog Company dogs: Classic Beef and Beef & Pork! Chef Tony takes great pride in his work as he seeks the best possible ingredients both in the quality of the meat and in the spices that go into his dogs!

  • Chicken (fresh & frozen available this week): Whole and Cut-ups (breast, drums, leg quarters, thighs and wings) re-stocked!, Ground Chicken, Soup Bones (necks and backs) and Organ Meats (feet, heart, liver & gizzards). Orders should be for the week of pick-up.

  • Duck: Whole Duck is Back this Week!!

  • Lamb: 

    • Ground Lamb or Ground Lamb Patties—3 or 4 pieces/patty,

    • Lamb Loin, Rib, Sirloin, or Shoulder Chops

    • Lamb Merguez Sausage Links—enjoy sweet, delicious, and savory scents!

    • Lamb Ribs or Soup Bones

    • Lamb Stew Meat, Shank, Leg of Lamb (Bone In), Lamb Shoulder Roast, Lamb Arm & Neck Roast, and organ meats

  • Pork: Sweet Italian & Hot Italian, Ethiopian Berbere, Fresh Kielbasa, Merquez, Mild Breakfast, Oaxacan Adobo, and Real Vermonter's Maple Sausage this week! All from our pannage raised pork and organically sourced spice blends (featuring the Teeny Tiny Spice Co).

    • Pork Chops (thick and thin), steaks, ground pork, and more! Other cuts: Neck Bones, Soup Bones, Organ Meats (ask about our 2 for 1 options), Back Fat (Great for making your own lard, sausage, or using just like it is to grease your skillet!).

    • We have Bacon (jowl and pork belly), Ham, and Ham Hocks, if you haven't come by yet this summer for a taste, please do before supplies run out!

    • We're also carrying a variety of smoked bacon sausage options from Big Fork (from Berkshire Hogs raised on pasture): Maple & Brown Sugar Bacon, Hickory & Applewood Bacon, Aged Cheddar Bacon, Bacon & Ale, and Chicken & Bacon Sausage.   • Rabbit:  Whole Rabbit is back this week!!

  • Salmon: Kvarøy Arctic Rope Hung, Smoked Salmon sustainably raised in Norway where they are doing what they can to protect our seas and share their long traditions with the rest of us. Their waters and fish are pristine, and the Kvarøy Arctic team is working tirelessly to keep it that way. “We must leave the environment in the same or better shape than when we began.” —Alf-Gøran Knutsen, CEO of Kvarøy Arctic. We are out of the Salmon Filets & Burgers but hope to re-stock in early November 2022! We are currently negotiating a shipment with our friendly team at Kvarøy and doing our best to keep the carbon footprint and costs as low as possible for our customers and the planet, we apologize for the delay!

  • Turkey (frozen): Breast (re-stocked from last week), Drumsticks and Soup Bones (including backs and feet).
